Scope creep, the saga of the Useless Electrician and courses galore…

Buona sera!

Well. Let me tell you… It’s all change here.

Year of Fun: The plan has been a little revised! “Scope creep” I hear you cry. Well, yes. I hate scope creep. And who doesn’t? Plans are there to be rigidly followed after all 🙂 However, the change has been duly considered by the Project Sponsor (er, me), the risks assessed and the Project Assurance Team (Mum and Dad) consulted and well, the decision has been made to go forth and prepare a full Business Case for….. <insert drum roll here>….a Mediterranean sailing extravaganza starting in April 2013 and potentially lasting 6 months to a year. So, still sort of an Italian Plan, but probably also a bit of a Greece Plan and a Spain Plan and a South of France Plan too.

The rationale is as follows: once I’m committed to paying rent (in my Italian house hunt), and then later when I’ve bought a house and I’m committed to raising my flock of chickens, herd of goats (perhaps not a herd as such but you get the gist) etc. it’s going to be difficult for me to find an opportunity to do anything like this. So, whilst I can, it seems a wise move to do things I’ve always had a vague notion of doing at some point, well, next year.

Sailing has been something I’ve fancied doing for years but never got around to. Have a look at this boat: Beneteau Oceanis 34 (http://www.beneteau.com/Sailing-Yachts/Oceanis/Oceanis-34_ – isn’t it lovely?!?!?!

So – this weekend will be one of investigation. I’m going to investigate Competent Crew and Day Skipper courses and look at doing some crewing.

Perhaps depending upon my prowess as a skipper, I could take people out on trips or holidays. It doesn’t seem a bad life eh?

Electrician – trying to get this guy to commit to a date for me to give him money to put in a fan and radiator in my bathroom is like trying to draw blood out of a stone. You’d think I was asking him for a date for him to come around for me to cut all his digits off with a rusty saw. Mid October at the moment. I believe I’m able to insert a “poll” into word press – I’m tempted to take bets on whether people will think it will happen. I vote no.

Italian – Sonia, my teacher, has been away so Italian has been woefully slow but for any language learners out there, I suggest you write a diary in your new language. It helps!

Courses – Well, Contemporary Basketry has commenced – in fact, 3 weeks ago. And for the last 2 weeks I’ve not been able to go because of one thing or another so I’m horribly behind already. I still have high hopes for my becoming a rich and famous basket weaving extraordinaire though. And Wednesday’s are now Self Defense class for 5 weeks though whether I manage to keep that up, I don’t know. It’s a badly run class. There’s a Nail Art class (finger/toe nails rather than anything artistic with actual nails) next weekend so that’ll be interesting too.

Anyway, I’ll leave it there – I don’t want to overload you all with excitement.

Sogni d’oro!

Woo hoo!!! HOW exciting!! I am willing to be a good friend and go sailing with you – obviously my version of sailing being sitting on a sun deck with a glass of champagne and people bringing me things as we pootle along. I assume that’s your version too? 🙂

    • Excellent 🙂 Yes, that’s exactly my vision too. I think this Day Skipper course will give me an excellent grounding in how to chose the best champagne for different sailing eventualities.
